Laura Klutsarits

Laura Klutsarits.jpgCoach Klutsarits enters her sixth season as the Siena Heights Coach. Before her time as a Saint, Klutsarits was at Keystone College in Pennsylvania. There she was Associate Athletic Director, Head Softball Coach and Head Women’s Soccer Coach. She started her coaching career as the Head Women’s Soccer Coach and Assistant Softball Coach at St. Ambrose University.

In her eleven years of coaching, she has coached four All-Americans, 48 All-Conference Players, and 31 Academic All-Americans. Klutsarits was the Midwest Classic Coach of the Year in 2001 and the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference Coach of Character in 2007, 2009 & 2010. On top of that, she has served as the Northeastern Athletic Conference Softball Chair and is currently the WHAC Softball Chair. For the past two years, she served on the NAIA National Championship Tournament Committee as well.

Klutsarits is a native of St. Louis, Missouri and graduated from St. Ambrose University in 1999 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sport Management. In 2001, she earned a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from St. Ambrose. During her playing career, she garnered All-Conference accolades for her play on the softball field in both 1996 and 1999. She was also named as an All-Conference Goalkeeper in 1997. Off of the field, she has been recognized as an NAIA Academic All-American for both soccer and softball. In 2000, she was an integral part of the St. Ambrose team that went to the NAIA National Tournament.

In her time at Siena Heights, Klutsarits amassed 89 wins and ranks third on the Siena Heights All-Time softball wins list and fifth in winning percentage list. Besides coaching softball, she also serves as the Saints Assistant Sports Information Director and is part of the Siena Heights Hall of Fame Committee.

Becky Martinez

Coach Martinez is back for her sixth year on the Saints’ bench. She graduated from Blissfield High School in 1991. She then received her Bachelor’s of Arts in Social Science/Education from Siena Heights in 1996. In 2008, Coach Martinez earned her Master’s Degree in Organizational Leadership at Siena Heights.

In her time at Siena Heights, Martinez was a three year starter and co-captain of the softball team. She was an All-WHAC selection in 1995 and 1996 and All-District 23 in 1994. She was also named the conference MVP in 1996 and was selected to the 1995 and 1996 All-Region teams. Prior to coming to Siena Heights, Martinez spent one year playing at Michigan State University. More recently, in the fall of 2007, Coach Martinez was selected to the Siena Heights Athletic Hall of Fame.

Coach Martinez has several years of coaching experience and is certified in the Right View Pro hitting program. She coached the Northwest Ohio Lady Irish from 1996-2004. She also spent time as a graduate assistant at the University of Toledo and was the Adrian High School assistant head coach from 1997-2002. Most recently, she served as the Head Coach at Hillsdale College.

Angela Pooley

Coach Pooley enters her fourth year on the Saints’ bench. Pooley is no stranger to the Saints’ program as she was a four year student-athlete, finishing her career in the spring of 2006.

Coach Pooley (Slack) was an infielder for the Saints in her career and sits in 7th place for career assists with 217. She finished her career with almost 300 plate appearances, with 21 RBI and 37 runs scored. Pooley also had 21 stolen bases for the Saints and 145 put outs.

Coach Pooley graduated from Madison High School in 2002. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in psychology in 2006. She finished her Master’s Degree in community counseling in December of 2010.

Coach Pooley has two years of coaching experience working with the Wizards out of Toledo, Ohio. She coached one of the 16U teams in the summer of 2007 and coached one of the 18U teams in the summer of 2008.

Most recently, Coach Pooley and her husband Justin had their first child, Bryson, in January of 2011.

Matt Martinez

Coach Martinez enters his second season on the bench for the Saints. Coach Martinez has plenty of experience in the dugout as he has been coaching softball at many different levels over the past eight years.

Coach Martinez is currently the assistant varsity coach at Blissfield High School as well as an assistant head coach for the 14U Adrian Lookouts. His experience has also included work with the N.W.O. Lady Irish organization, the Adrian Little League Organization, as well as the Blissfield Recreation League Organization.

Coach Martinez has been involved with many area coaching clinics including the University of Michigan and University of Toledo. He is a member of the National Youth Sports Coaches Association as well as the Adrian Lookouts Scholarship Committee. Coach Martinez also has his certification with the Right View Pro hitting program.

Coach Martinez and his wife Tracie have two daughters, Kaytlin (14) and Addison (4).
