Uribe Nets Winner, Patterson Has Three Assists as SHU Men's Soccer Opens With Win

DEERFIELD, Ill. -- Jason Uribe (Fenton, Mich./Fenton) scored the game-winner, snapping a 2-all tie in the second half, and Shane Patterson (Farmington Hills, Mich./Farmington) made three assists as the Siena Heights men's soccer team opened its season with a 3-2 victory over Trinity International (Ill.) on Tuesday.

Alex Chwalibog (Brighton, Mich./Brighton) and Chris Lee (Marysville, Mich./Marysville) also tallied goals for the Saints (1-0).

James Lawson (Utica, Mich./Henry Ford II) and Clayton Tomczyk (Lapeer, Mich./Lapeer East) contributed assists while Lucas Sagaert (Mentor, Ohio/Lake Catholic) earned the win in net.

In a back-and-forth first half, the host Trojans opened the scoring before Chwalibog and Lee scored consecutively to put SHU up, 2-1. Trinity International eventually finished out the half with an equalizer.

In the second half, SHU controlled play and took the lead via corner kick. Patterson booted a cross to the head of Tomczyk, who directed the ball toward Uribe. Uribe then finished the ball off his chest and into the net.

The Saints will return to action on Wednesday, Aug. 29, when they play their home opener against Goshen (Ind.). The match will begin at 7 p.m.
