SHU Men's Soccer Storms Past Goshen For 4-1 Win
ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights men's soccer team scored three unanswered goals to claim a 4-1 non-conference victory over Goshen (Ind.) on Wednesday at O'Laughlin Stadium.
Alex Chwalibog (Brighton, Mich./Brighton) scored just 62 seconds into the contest and Justin Johnson (Utica, Mich./Utica), Shane Patterson (Farmington Hills, Mich./Farmington) and Brian Ebert (Brighton, Mich./Brighton) added goals later to fuel the Saints (2-0).
Chwalibog opened the scoring for SHU, finding the net in the second minute with an assist from Aaron Lain (Saint Joseph, Mich./Saint Joseph). Lain carried the ball down the right side and sent a cross to Chwalibog, who finished the play in the 18-yard box.
Goshen answered back in the 10th minute on a goal by Daniel Martin, who scored on a breakaway via assist from Caleb Longenecker.
During the 23rd minute, Johnson put the Saints ahead for good with an assist from Bryant M. White (Detroit, Mich./Brother Rice).
Patterson put a direct kick into the net during the 37th minute, helping SHU to a 3-1 halftime advantage, before Ebert scored an insurance goal in the 88th with assistance from Jacob Sims (Oxford, Mich./Lake Orion) off a corner kick.
Lucas Sagaert (Mentor, Ohio/Lake Catholic) was the winning goalkeeper for Siena Heights, finishing with one save. His counterpart, Goshen's Brian O'Leary, stopped six shots.
Siena Heights (2-0) will return to action on Saturday with a 7 p.m. home match against Spring Arbor.
