SHU Men's Bowling Places 21st at Orange and Black Classic
CENTERVILLE, Ohio -- The Siena Heights men's bowling team placed 21st of 29 teams at the Orange and Black Classic, which was hosted by Pikeville (Ky.) at Poelking Lanes South.
The Saints finished with a total pin count of 8,434 after scoring a 5,430 in six team games and a 3,004 in 16 baker games.
Jonathan Carey (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Blanc) was the top SHU finisher, taking 67th place with a total pin count of 1,121. He had the team's highest average score of 186.8 and bowled three games of 200 points or more. Carey's high score was 213.
Mike Burman (Britton, Mich./Britton-Macon) placed 103rd, accumulating a 908 and 181.6 average over five games. His high score was a 201.
Paul Farley (Sterling Heights, Mich./Bishop Foley) bowled an 890 over five games -- good enough for a 178 average -- and finished 106th. His high score was a 203.
Zachary Bonds (Bay City, Mich./Bay City John Glenn) had a 741 over four games and averaged 185.3. He threw the Saints' high game of the classic, compiling a 236 game. Bonds placed 127th.
Trevor Goodfriend (Adrian, Mich./Adrian), who finished 138th, had a pin count of 669 in four games to finished with a 167.3 average. His high game was a 183.
The team event was won by Lindenwood (Mo.), which finished with a final score of 10,128. The top bowler was Scott Santysiak of Toledo (Ohio), who had a 1,436.
The average game for all 176 bowlers was 187.7.
The Siena Heights men will return to action on Nov. 5-6 with at two different American Heartland Intercollegiate Bowling Conference events. Both AHIBC II and AHIBC III will take place at Freeway Lanes in Wickliffe, Ohio.
