SHU Men's Hoops Handles Ohio-Zanesville; Lemm Named to MVN All-Tournament Team
MOUNT VERNON, Ohio -- Andre Johnson (Grand Rapids, Mich./Ottawa Hills) scored 20 points and five other Siena Heights men's basketball players reached double-figures in scoring as the Saints defeated Ohio-Zanesville, 112-44, on Saturday in the Mount Vernon Nazarene (Ohio) Tournament consolation game.
Cecil Clark (Ferndale, Mich./Ferndale) added 17 points and Chris Lemm (Clinton Township, Mich./Chippewa Valley) put in 16 for SHU. Lemm was named to the All-Tournament Team.
Nick Kosovich (Shelby Township, Mich./Romeo) contributed 12 points, Vince Schantz (Wyandotte, Mich./Allen Park Cabrini) had 10 points and eight rebounds and leading rebounder Myke Hand (Monroe, Mich./Dundee) grabbed nine boards for the Saints (1-1).
After the opening tip, Siena Heights took an 11-0 lead and never looked back. Lemm buried a pair of 3-pointers and scored eight of SHU's first 11 points.
The Saints built a 63-25 advantage at halftime and twice led by 68 points, including the game's final score.
Zanesville (0-2) was led by John Brothers, who finished with 12 points and eight rebounds, and Nate Stewart, who scored 11 points.
Siena Heights will return to action next weekend when it hosts the Maple City Classic. On Friday, Point Park (Pa.) will take on Lourdes (Ohio) at 5:30 p.m. before the Saints meet Marygrove at 7:30. Consolation and championship games are scheduled for Saturday.
