Clark Scores 26 in SHU Men's Hoops Loss to #19 Indiana Tech; Saints Still Clinch WHAC Berth

FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- Cecil Clark (Ferndale, Mich./Ferndale) led all scorers with 26 points, but the Siena Heights men's basketball team suffered a 64-58 loss to Indiana Tech in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference action on Wednesday.

Nick Packwood (Southgate, Mich./Inter-City Baptist) added 14 points for the Saints, who led by as many as nine points.

Siena Heights (6-23, 3-14) was up, 21-12, before the Warriors exploded for a 21-4 run. Melvin Brooks led Indiana Tech with eight points during the stretch. From there, the hosts led for good.

After trailing 36-31 at intermission, the Saints pulled within two points on four different occasions, but could not find a way to forge a tie or lead.

Leading 56-54, the Warriors scored eight straight points and held SHU scoreless for a stretch of 4:40. At that point, Indiana Tech held a 64-54 lead with 2:31 remaining.

Clark answered with two buckets, but the Saints would not come any closer.

Brooks finished with 22 points for the Warriors while Rodney Bartholomew pieced together an 18-point, 14-rebound double-double. Chris Ware grabbed seven rebounds and Jordan Hickman dished six assists.

Despite the loss, the Saints clinched the eighth seed in the WHAC Tournament due to Northwestern Ohio's loss to Madonna on Wednesday.

SHU will wrap up its regular season on Saturday with a 7:30 p.m. home contest against Michigan-Dearborn.
