Bonds Breaks 200 Four Times, Leads SHU Men's Bowlers at Hoinke Open
CINCINNATI, Ohio -- Zachary Bonds (Bay City, Mich./Bay City John Glenn) eclipsed the 200-point mark four times in leading the Siena Heights men's bowling team to 22nd place at Cincinnati's Hoinke Bearcat Open over the weekend. The Saints finished with score of 8,066.
Bonds, who had games of 215, 215, 203 and 200, finished with a 1,697 pin count. He averaged 188.6 over a nine-game series and placed 56th among 286 bowlers.
Jonathan Carey (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Blanc) was 70th in the pin count standings, finishing with a score of 1,647. He rolled games of 220 and 212 while compiling an average of 183.0.
Paul Farley (Sterling Heights, Mich./Bishop Foley) had a score of 1,544 to take 106th place. He finished with a 171.6 average and broke the 200 mark twice with a 213 and 201.
Trevor Goodfriend (Adrian, Mich./Adrian) and Dylan Fox (Onsted, Mich./Onsted) had total counts of 1,462 and 1,451, respectively. Goodfriend finished 133rd and Fox was 138th.
Siena Heights also had a B-Team in competition at the Hoinke Open.
James Hughes (Parma, Mich./Western) led the SHU B-Team by placing 76th overall with a 1,634 count. He had games of 216 and 200, eventually ending up with a 181.6 average.
Greg Gose (Hudson, Mich./Hudson) followed in 125th. He had a high game of 213 and finished with a 1,484 count.
Mike Bohnett (Milan, Mich./Clinton) rolled a 212 game and 1,445 series for the B-Team and Kyle Peters (Charlotte, Mich./Lansing Waverly) added a 202 game and 1,427 series. Michael Balinski (Tecumseh, Mich./Tecumseh) contributed a high game of 167.
Bohnett placed 140th, Peters took 145th and Balinski was 192nd.
Lindenwood (Mo.) won the 28-team event with a score of 9,788. The top individual bowler was Toby Kraus, who finished with a 2,053 score for Calumet Saint Joseph (Ind.).
The Saints will compete next at the Blue and Gold Classic in South Bend, Ind.
