Men's XC Places 18th Among 31 Teams at National Catholic Meet
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Jesiah Rodriguez (Erie, Mich./Erie Mason) and David Weeks (Eaton Rapids, Mich./Eaton Rapids) placed 49th and 53rd, respectively, to lead the Siena Heights men's cross country team to an 18th-place finish among 31 teams at the National Catholic Cross Country Invitational at Notre Dame (Ind.).
Rodriguez finished the 5-kilometer course in 25:49 while Weeks clocked in at 25:52. In the race scoring, Rodriguez had 48 points and Weeks logged 52 for the Saints' team score of 479. Host Notre Dame won the invite with a score of 28.
Also scoring for SHU was Zach Widner (Detroit, Mich./Weston Prep), who placed 118th in 26:47. Justin Bateson (Blissfield, Mich./Blissfield) took 134th in 27:00 and Mark Haukereid (Bridgeman, Mich./Bridgeman) crossed the line 141st in 27:05.
Other finishers for the Saints were Kyle Smith (Shelby Township, Mich./De La Salle), 149th in 27:12, and Andrew Mark (Lowell, Mich./Lowell), 175th in 27:39.
The Siena Heights men will compete next at the Notre Dame Invitational on Sept. 30.
