Weeks Places Eighth; SHU Men Fifth at Great Lakes Challenge

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- David Weeks (Eaton Rapids, Mich./Eaton Rapids) ran to eighth place, clocking in at 25:20.10 on the 8K course, to lead the Siena Heights men's cross country team to a fifth-place finish among 35 squads at the NAIA Great Lakes Challenge, which was hosted by Aquinas.

Jesiah Rodriguez (Erie, Mich./Erie Mason) and Justin Bateson (Blissfield, Mich./Blissfield) added 24th- and 25th-place finishes for the Saints, who had 183 team points. Rodriguez crossed the finish line in 25:46.27 while Bateson ended in 25:50.98.

Zach Widner (Detroit, Mich./Weston Prep) placed 54th and Kyle Smith (Shelby Township, Mich./De La Salle) took 72nd to round out the scoring for SHU with times of 26:25.53 and 26:39.75, respectively.

Other SHU finishers were Andrew Mark (Lowell, Mich./Lowell), who took 92nd in 27:06.93; Mark Haukereid (Bridgeman, Mich./Bridgeman), who was 95th in 27:12.12; Vasilios Neri (Blissfield, Mich./Blissfield), who finished in 28:46.22; Adam McIntosh (Imo, S.C./Dutch Fork), who clocked in at 28:50.13; and Chase Every (Mason, Mich./Mason), who crossed the line in 29:42.52.

SHU will return to action on Nov. 5 when it participates at the WHAC Championships in Grand Rapids.
