Lyall Selected as Assistant Coach for Team Stars and Stripes

GRANBURY, Texas -- Siena Heights head football coach Jim Lyall has been selected as an assistant coach for Team Stars and Stripes in the third annual Tazón de Estrellas (Bowl of the Stars).

Lyall will be the squad's offensive line coach under former -- and now retired -- Delaware Valley (Pa.) coach Bill Manlove.

A total of 49 players from 27 NCAA Division III teams were selected to the preliminary Team Stars and Stripes all-star roster. Nine coaches, including Lyall, are also listed. The squad will face the CONADEIP All Stars from Mexico on Saturday, Dec. 17, at the El Tempo del Dolor (Temple of Pain) in Puebla, Mexico.

The 2011 edition of Team Stars and Stripes will arrive in Puebla on Sunday, Dec. 11, and after two-a-day practices on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, the players and coaches will have an opportunity to mix lighter practices with an opportunity to explore the local region.

Last year, Team Stars and Stripes defeated CONADEIP, 48-7, in Toluca, after having suffered a 24-12 loss to the Tec Monterrey All-Stars in the 2009 Tazón de Estrellas.
