Eight More Recruits Picked Up by SHU Football

The Siena Heights football team has signed eight more recruits since its 20-player splash on Signing Day, bringing its total number to 28. Newcomers include:

DeShawn Gilbert - WR/DB - 5-8 - 175 - Clawson H.S.
DeShawn Gilbert is from Oak Park, Mich., where he was a member of the Trojans of the Macomb Area Conference Bronze Division. While playing there, he earned all-league, all-county, all-district and all-state honors.

At Siena Heights, he intends to major in either Graphic Design or Sport Management.

"I felt my place when I visited," he said. "I liked the campus and the coaching staff is great. I met people there I liked and the people seem nice. Lastily, I believe I'll get a good education."

Pat Goebel - LB/DE - 6-1 - 220 - Gull Lake H.S.
Pat Goebel is from Hickory Corners, Mich., where he was a member of the Richland Gull Lake Blue Devils. He is an all-conference second team center and middle linebacker on the gridiron. A track and field athlete, he is also an all-conference first team shot put and discus thrower.

"I like the overall attractiveness of the campus and I also like the great athletic facilities," he said. "The campus has a great location and very nice people. Siena Heights also has the major I want to pursue."

Kody Heitz - LB - 5-11 - 200 - Coldwater H.S.
Kody Heitz is from Coldwater, Mich., where he was a member of the Cardinals of the Southwestern Michigan Athletic Conference East Division. During his sophomore and junior years, he lived in Van Wert, Ohio, and played for its high school squad.

As a senior, Heitz was named All-SMAC First Team and all-area first team. At Siena Heights, he intends to be a Biology major.

"I picked Siena Heights because the Biology program has a 98 percent placement rate into graduate programs," he said. "I like the location and the football program is on the path to success. It's definitely something I want to be a part of."

Alex Maday - DL - 6-1 - 260 - Utica H.S.
Alex Maday is from Shelby Township, Mich., where he was a member of the Chieftains of the Macomb Area Conference White Division. While playing there, he earned All-MAC offensive line honors and All-East Metro defensive line honors.

At Siena Heights, he intends to major in Nursing.

"On my visit, I noticed the chances I would have at Siena Heights, for both my education and football," he said. "I like how Siena Heights is adding everything to the campus and making it a better place."

Keith Marshall - DB - 5-10 - 180 - Farmington Hills Harrison H.S.
Keith Marshall is from Farmington Hills, Mich., where he was a member of the Harrison Hawks' 2011 Division 2 state championship squad and two-time Oakland Activities Association White Division champs (2011-12). At Siena Heights, he intends to be a Criminal Justice major.

"I picked Siena Heights for the family atmosphere," he said. "The coaches made my choice an easy one. I like how they stressed education."

Lamarr Marshall - DB - 6-0 - 190 - Farmington Hills Harrison H.S.
Lamarr Marshall is from Farmington Hills, Mich., where he was a member of the Harrison Hawks' 2011 Division 2 state championship squad and two-time Oakland Activities Association White Division champs (2011-12). He has yet to pick a major to study at Siena Heights.

"I chose Siena Heights because it's close to home," he said. "I have a lot of friends there and the coaches were very welcoming to me."

Brandon Partee - 5-10 - 180 - RB - Niles H.S.
Brandon Partee is from Niles, Mich., where he was a member of the Vikings of the Southwestern Michigan Athletic Conference West Division. While playing there, he was an All-SMAC First Team honoree on the football field while being an all-region and state qualifier in track and field.

At Siena Heights, he intends to major in Sport Management.

"I picked Siena Heights because of the kindness of the coaches, the players on the team and the facilities," he said. "I liked the atmosphere of campus on my visit. I felt really comfortable."

Marquis Steward - LB - 6-0 - 230 - Detroit Frederick Douglass H.S.
