SHU Football Gets 27 More, Signee List at 55

The Siena Heights football team continues to bring in new recruits. The Saints have inked 53 signees since Signing Day. The latest 27 newcomers include:

Patrick Allen - OLB - 6-0 - 185 - South Haven H.S.

A.J. Caldwell - RB - 5-11 - 175 - Imlay City H.S.

Eric Baumann - FB - 6-0 - 200 - Mount Pleasant H.S.

Reggie Blackmon - WR - 6-2 - 190 - Fort Wayne Snider H.S. (Ind.)

Tanner Brewer - DL - 5-11 - 250 - Ypsilanti Lincoln H.S.

Evan Cavanaugh - OL - 6-4 - 260 - Warren Cousino H.S.
Evan Cavanaugh is from Warren, Mich., and was a member of the Warren Cousino Patriots of the Macomb Area Conference White Division. He was an All-MAC and all-county performer on the football field.

At Siena Heights, Cavanaugh intends to be a Pre-Med major.

"I like the facilities and the ideas that they (SHU coaches) preach," Cavanaugh said of his decision.

Troy Cross - LB - 6-1 - 225 - Warren Cousino H.S.
Troy Cross is from Sterling Heights, Mich., and was a member of the Warren Cousino Patriots of the Macomb Area Conference White Division. At Siena Heights, Cross intends to be a Business Administration major.

"I like how the coaches treat their players and I love the campus," Cross said of his decision.

Mason Courtright - FB/LB - 6-0 - 185 - Shelby H.S.
Mason Courtright is from Mears, Mich., and played for the Shelby Tigers of the West Michigan Conference. On the football field, he was an All-WMC First Team performer as both a fullback and linebacker while earning all-state special mention honors. As a junior, he was an All-WMC running back.

Courtright has also been a force on the wrestling mat, earning four all-conference awards and two all-state honors.

"I chose Siena Heights because I believe it is the best place for me academically and athletically It is a very friendly environment with good positive people," Courtright said. "I like the size of campus and how everything is so close. I am from a rural community, so the area fits me well."


Nick Goodrich - OL/TE - 6-5 - 225 - South Haven H.S.













Frankie Hamilton - LB - 6-0 - 185 - Toledo Start H.S.

Markus Jenema - DE/LB - 6-3 - 225 - Marion H.S.
Markus Jenema is from Marion, Mich., where he played for the Marion Eagles of the Highland Conference. On the football field, he earned three all-conference awards, two all-area honors and one all-state accolade.

At Siena Heights, Jenema intends to be a Nursing major.

"I like the football program, school and coaching staff," Jenema said of his decision.

Justin Madar - DE - 6-4 - 230 - Holt H.S.

Josh Nastally - DE - 6-1 - 225 - Michigan Center H.S.
Josh Nastally is from Jackson, Mich., and played for the Michigan Center Cardinals of the Cascades Conference. On the football field, he was an All-Cascades Honorable Mention.

At Siena Heights, Nastally intends to be a Nursing major.

"I felt more at home and I know people here," Nastally said of his decision. "The people at Siena Heights are really nice and friendly."

Lester Olsen III - LB - 6-1 - 215 - Utica Ford H.S.

Cody Perrault - DB - 6-1 - 175 - Trenton H.S.
Cody Perrault is from Trenton, Mich., and played for the Trenton Trojans of the Downriver League. He played two years of varsity football and was a DECA state qualifier.

At Siena Heights, Perrault intends to be a Business major.

"I picked Siena Heights because I think it is the best fit for me academically and athletically," Perrault said of his decision. "I like that the football team is like a family."

Anthony Saurine - RB/DB - 5-9 - 180 - Utica Ford H.S.
Anthony Saurine is from Macomb Township, Mich., and played for the Utica Ford Falcons of the Macomb Area Conference White Division. He was an all-county first team performer on offense and a second-team honoree on defense. He was also named to the All-Metro Second Team.

At Siena Heights, Saurine intends to be a Business major.

"I picked Siena Heights because of its up-and-coming football program and the small class sizes. This will give me a chance to build a tradition for a new team," Perrault said of his decision. "I will be a part of their legacy for years to come."
