The Siena Heights Women’s Basketball Team handily beat cross town rival Adrian College by a score of 80-61.
In the first half, the Saints made a couple of runs which Adrian couldn’t answer. A 7-11 clip from behind the three point arc in the first half really put the game out of reach early on. Their three-point shooting coupled with a 15-20 clip from the free throw strip game the Saints a comfortable 46-29 lead where they never looked back.
The Saints actually shot better from the floor in the second half, 44.1% to 37.5% in the
first half, but this time, did it inside the three point line. Adrian was able to play close with the Saints in the second half, but it was way too little, way too late.
Erin Cassidy had a career high in points with 23, her previous best was 18 a season ago. She was followed by Shalaha Hubbard who continued her hot start with 19 points. Tanci Levit also had a strong game with 16 points, while Nikki Hughes came off the bench to add 10 points of her own. Cassidy pulled down the double-double on the night with 10 rebounds to lead the Saints. Hubbard and Lauren Crockett led the Saints with four assists while Hubbard led the team with two steals and Hughes, along with Cassidy had the Saints
lone blocks on the night.
With the win, the Saints move to 3-1 overall. They will return to action on Friday when they travel to Olivet to play in their tournament Friday and Saturday. Friday they will face Olivet College and Saturday they will see Calvin College. The Saints will return home on Tuesday night when they host Rochester College at 7:30 pm.
