In the game, a back and forth first half ended with Adrian ahead 20-19.  However, coming out of the halftime break Brent Reynolds scored eight straight points to give the Saints a lead they would not relinquish.  As the game moved on, good defense by both teams led to a low scoring game with the difference coming at the free throw line.  The Saints had 13 points from the stripe compared to only eight by the Bulldogs.

Umfress Adrian 1.jpgLeading the way for the Saints was Cortney Smith with 14 points to lead both teams.  He was followed by Mark Snipes who added 10 points.  The Saints defense held all Adrian players to nine points or less.  On the boards, Logan Mathews led the Saints with seven rebounds while Cory Umfress led the team with five assists.  Reynolds had the Saints only block while four Saints each had one steal.

With the win, the Saints move to 7-1 on the season.  They will return to action on Saturday when they travel to Indiana University-South Bend.  The Saints return home Snipes Adrian 1.jpgon Wednesday night when they host Malone at 7:30 pm.

The Saints also stay undefeated through the winter sports season over cross town rival Adrian College.  All five contests played between Siena Heights and Adrian College in the 2009-10 academic year to this point have been won by the Saints with the men's and women's soccer teams, the women's volleyball team, and the men's and women's basketball team all coming away with a win over the Bulldogs.
