The Siena Heights Women’s Basketball Team went on the road with a daunting task in front of them, taking on the top team in the nation, when they faced Davenport University. Unfortunately for the Saints, they saw first-hand why the Panthers are the best in the land, coming away with a lopsided 110-78 loss.
At the end first half, the Saints found themselves down by fifteen points, 50-35. In an up and down, action packed half, the Saints were outshot by a 43.9% to 30.3% margin and outrebounded by eight. Tanci Levit had 12 points for the Saints in the half while Nikki Hughes had seven boards in the half.
In the second half, the Saints didn’t fare a whole lot better, this time being outscored by 17, 60-43. In the second half, the Saints shot over 40% for the half, but also allowed Davenport to shoot better than 52% on the half. Shalaha Hubbard led the Saints with 12 points in the second half and Levit led the team with six rebounds in the half.
For the game, the Saints were led by Levit with 16 points. Hubbard followed with 15 points while Lauren Crockett and Hughes each added 10 points. Levit and Hughes each had eight rebounds for the Saints while Crockett led the team with six assists.
With the loss, the Saints fall to 13-7 on the season and 2-2 in the WHAC. They will return to action on Wednesday when they return home and face Indiana Tech at 7:30 pm.
