The Siena Heights Volleyball opened the St. Ambrose Tournament with a pair of losses Friday night. The Saints lost to Grand Canyon in four games, 30-27, 20-30, 18-30, 25-30 and lost to St. Ambrose in three games 19-30, 20-30, 18-30.
In the Grand Canyon match Matt Mitterholzer led the Saints. Mitterholzer had 16 kills 10 digs and two solo blocks. Adrian Rutt also had 16 kills but only had 7 digs. Juan Sierra has 42 assists and 11 digs, while Chas Newhouse picked up five digs.
Against St. Ambrose Mitterholzer tallied 19 kills and four digs. Rutt added another 10 kills to his totals, while Sierra added 26 assists and Newhouse had 7 more digs.
The Saints have three more games left in the St. Ambrose Tournament. They will play two matches on Saturday. At 9 am the Saints will battle Warner University from Florida and then face off with Park University from Missouri at 1 pm. The tournament will conclude for the Saints on Sunday when they play Warner at 10 am.
