ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights Esports program opened up competition for Super Smash Bros., Hearthstone, and Overwatch this past week. The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) also announced a format change for both FIFA and Madden NFL, both games are scheduled to kick off their seasons next week.
ECAC: FIFA & MADDEN NFL
The ECAC announced a change in the 3v3 format for both FIFA and Madden NFL games to a 1v1 format. Both games will begin next week due to this transition.
SUPER SMASH BROS. RECAP
The SHU Super Smash Bros. team fell 2-0 to Johnson and Wales University. The Saints struggled to combat the Wildcats Pickachu who took nearly eight of nine team stocks from Siena Heights before being eliminated in game two.
The Hearthstone Saints won 3-2 over Randolph-Macon College. SHU hopped out to a 2-0 lead early before Ben Hubbell tallied the final win the Saints needed to take the series. The match can be watched on YouTube here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=snvR_HNBasU.
SHU Overwatch dominated Central Methodist University. The Saints won the maps of Lijiang Tower, Junkertown, and Volskaya Industries. The final map of the contest saw SHU dominate to an easy victory which can be seen on YouTube here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r4zQz6KeWe8.
NEXT WEEK IN ESPORTS
Monday - Smash Bros. will compete in week 2 ECAC games. FIFA will also debut for week 1 of ECAC.
Tuesday - Hearthstone plays week 2 of ECAC.
Wednesday - Overwatch continues ECAC play for week 2.
Thursday - Madden NFL debuts for its first ECAC competition.
