Ben Sunderman is entering his first year as Interim Head Coach for the Esports program. This will be his second semester of Graduate School in Higher Education Leadership. He is a recent graduate of Siena in Business Administration and Psychology. He participated on the Overwatch team during the Inaugural 2018-2019 year of the Esports program.
Last year was his first semester coaching as the Graduate Assistant. His primary function was coaching the Overwatch team. Under his coaching, he turned the Overwatch team around from a 1-win season in 2018-2019, to 18 wins out of 41 games during the 2019-2020 season. This includes a win against Aquinas in the LAN tournament for Overwatch at Western Michigan University.
In March, Ben made the transition to Interim Head Coach. He is excited to lead the program with young and fresh ideas. With at least 10,000 hours in the game World of Warcraft already, he is very familiar with the process of reaching the top tiers of gaming and how to lead players in reflections of their gameplay to be open to their own mistakes. He is a member of the National Association for Esports Coaches and Directors.
