SOUTHFIELD, Mich. -- The Siena Heights men's basketball team defeated Lawrence Tech, 78-58, in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic conference contest, on Saturday.
The score remained close through the first half, LTU (1-10, 0-7 WHAC) holding a 23-22 lead over the Saints with 8:18 remaining in the first half. Siena Heights answered back quickly, gaining a 38-31 lead at the half. SHU fought off the Blue Devils' attack in the second half, holding onto their lead for a 20-point victory.
Leading the Saints (5-5, 3-4 WHAC) with 19 points was Tony Jackson II, also adding five rebounds, three steals and an assist. Kevin Smith II and Nick Randle tallied 18 and 17 points, respectively, as Randle added five rebounds, an assist and a steal.
Lawrence Tech was led by Devonte Myles with 21 points and four rebounds. Isiah Byrd scored 11 points while Ty'rese Searles tallied 10 points.
As a team, Siena Heights shot 32-55 (58.2%) overall, going 7-18 (38.9%) behind the arc and 7-14 (50.0%) from the free throw line. Lawrence Tech shot 23-48 (47.9%) from the floor, making 3-10 (30.0%) in three-point land and 9-12 (75.0%) from the charity stripe.
Next up, Siena Heights will face Madonna at home on Saturday, Dec. 16. The WHAC tipoff is set for 3 p.m.
