ADRIAN, Mich. – Nick Randle hit a career-best seven three-pointers to help the Siena Heights men's basketball team to an 85-61 victory over Lawrence Tech in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference action, on Saturday, in the Annual Breast Cancer Awareness game.
The Saints (10-12, 6-9 WHAC) started out slow, trailing 21-10 with 10:51 remaining in the first half. Successive dunks from Josh Winowiecki and Keith Jordan Jr. set SHU on to an 11-2 run, tying the game at 26-26 with 4:49 on the clock. The score went back and forth, until a Nick Randle three-pointer with 1:29 to give the Saints a three-point lead. Randle sank another three as time expired, giving SHU a 41-35 halftime lead.
A flurry of triples helped the Saints to a 14-point lead with 17:21 on the clock. The Blue Devils' Ty'rese Searles managed a jumper, but it wasn't enough to slow down SHU. Siena Heights kept a comfortable lead for the remainder of the game, finishing with a strong, 85-61, 24-point win.
Leading the Saints with 23 points was Randle, also managing four steals and two assists. Josh Winowiecki earned 17 points while Tony Jackson II earned 13 points, eight boards and five assists. Kevin Smith II finished with a team-high six assists.
The Blue Devils (3-18, 2-13 WHAC) had three players earn double-digit numbers. Leading the pack was Devonte Myles with a double-double, 13 points and 10 rebounds, adding five assists. Derek Seidl had 16 points as Searles ended with 13.
Siena Heights shot a strong 29-53 (54.7%) from the floor, 14-23 (60.9%) behind the arc and 13-16 (81.3%) from the charity stripe. Lawrence Tech went 23-53 (43.4%) overall, while shooting 5-15 (33.3%) in three-point land and 10-8 (55.6%) from the line.
The Saints will be back in action on Monday when they take on Akron-Wayne (Ohio) in a 6 p.m. non-conference contest.
