ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights men's soccer team kicks off the 2020 fall season at home against Indiana Tech this Saturday, October 3rd at 12:00 PM. The Saints finished the 2019 season eighth in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) standing with a 4-6-1 record in league play and a 7-10-1 overall mark. The WHAC coaches chose Siena Heights to finished eighth again in the 2020 season earlier this month in the preseason poll.
The Saints return 2019 WHAC All-Academic recipient and NAIA Scholar-Athlete Andrew Kozan (Senior, Canton, Mich.), Gustavo Barros (Senior, Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul), and 2019 WHAC All-Academic recipient and NAIA Scholar-Athlete Remy Collard (Senior, Okemos, Mich.). All three are captains for the upcoming season. Kozan finished last year with four appearances in goal. He made 24 saves and had a record of 1-2 with one shut out. Barros had the second-most goals (five) and points (seven) on the team. One of his goals was the game-winner over Aquinas. Collard appeared in 18 games, starting 11 of them. He scored two goals and earned four points. Along with the returning student-athletes from a year ago, Siena Heights added depth to the roster with a 12-member freshman class.
The fall 2020 season will feature four games for the men's soccer team. The first three matches will take place on home turf as the Warriors visit this Saturday followed by Lourdes on Saturday, October 10th. On Wednesday, October 14th, Siena will host Concordia (Mich.) before ending the fall slate at Cornerstone on Saturday, October 24th. SHU will return to action in the spring season, February 2021.
Due to COVID-19 protocols in place at Siena Heights University, there will be no spectators admitted to any Saint athletic events this fall season.
