ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights men's soccer team fell on the team's season opener to Indiana Tech 3-0 on Saturday afternoon. Senior Andrew Kozan (Canton, Mich.) (L, 0-1) made eight saves in net for the Saints in the losing effort.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Warriors came out shooting as Maxwell Amoako put them on the board first with a header goal off a corner kick from Noe Garcia two minutes into the game. Two minutes later, Amoako struck again as he netted a header off a corner kick from Jonas Kahlmann to put Tech in the lead 2-0. Ryan Steele found the back of the net as he received a pass from Garcia 20 yards out to put the Warriors up by three goals with 15 minutes left in the first half. Indiana Tech tallied 18 shots in the first half and held Siena Heights to zero shots.
The Warriors recorded 11 shots and four corner kicks in the second half but the Saints were able to hold them as they were unable to find the back of the net the rest of the game. Indiana Tech outshot SHU 29-1 and had 11 corner kicks compared to the Saints' zero. Tech held Siena to only one shot the entirety of the game as sophomore Matheus Marrote (Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul) took a shot 10 yards out but missed high with one minute remaining in the game. Siena Heights had two yellow cards in the game, one in each half.
• Kozan had five saves in the first half and three in the second half. He faced 11 shots on goal in 90 minutes between the pipes, allowing three goals.
• Marrote had Siena's lone shot of the entire game.
• Amoako had scored two of Tech's three goals and tallied three shots on goal.
• Steele recorded five shots and scored one goal.
• Garcia earned two assists and had four shots.
The Saints will host Lourdes (Ohio) for a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) contest on Saturday, October 10th at 12:00 p.m.
