Siena Heights men's volleyball junior Emilier De Jesus was chosen the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) men's volleyball defensive player of the week as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
The Chesterton, Indiana native led the Saint defense during the SHU men's volleyball tournament this weekend. He had a team-high in digs in the matches against Lincoln (Ill.) (24 digs, 4.8 digs/set) and Morningside (Iowa) (22 digs, 7.33 digs/set) on his way to a tournament total of 62 digs in the four matches played. He also tallied seven service aces including five in the match against Goshen in a 3-0 win. He was instrumental in Siena's 3-1 record for the tournament and was named to the all-tournament team for his performance.
This is the first WHAC weekly award for De Jesus's collegiate career and is also the first defensive player of the week award this season for the men's volleyball team.
The team returns to action this Saturday, March 23 with a WHAC home match against Goshen starting 3:00 p.m. EDT.
