TUCSON, Ariz. -- The Siena Heights softball team defeated Judson (Ill.), 5-4, and then lost to Northwestern (Iowa), 11-1, at the Tucson Invitational Games on Monday.
Katie O'Hotzke was the winning pitcher for SHU (3-3) against Judson. She also batted 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI.
The Saints plated solo runs in the first and third innings on an O'Hotzke sacrifice fly and an O'Hotzke single.
After Judson drew even at 2-all in its half of the third, Keller ripped an RBI double in the fourth and O'Hotzke crunched her round-tripper in the fifth.
Later in the fifth, Megan Jones plated older sister Tiffany Jones with a double to give the Saints a much-needed insurance run.
Judson scored twice in the fifth, but was ultimately held off by O'Hotzke's effort.
O'Hotzke pitched all seven innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on six hits. She recorded four strikeouts and two walks.
In the nightcap, Tiffany Jones (double) had two hits while Keller also doubled.
SHU trailed 7-0 before plating its only run in the sixth on Tiffany Jones' double.
The Saints will return to action on Tuesday with contests against Great Falls (Mont.) and Bethel (Ind.)
