Softball Grabs a Win and a Tie in Michigan-Dearborn Double-Header

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights softball team hosted Michigan-Dearborn in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference double-header on Friday. In the first game of the night, the Saints walked away with the 8-7 victory. The second game was called in the top of the eighth with a score of 4-4, because it was too dark to continue. It will remain a tie unless the game would have implications at the end of the season, in which case, the game will be finished.

The Saints jumped out with the lead in the first with a score of 2-0. No runs were scored until the Saints knocked in four in the fourth and one in the fifth. In the sixth, the Wolverines scored five on a single that scored two runs, and a three run home run. The Wolverines scored two in the fourth while the Saints only scored one, putting SHU at a 4-3 deficit. In the fifth, Siena Heights scored the game tying run. In the top of the eighth, the game was called due to the darkness, ending the ball game in a tie.

Four players finished with an RBI -- Kyndle Wolfinger, Hannah Bleikamp, Lexi Agers and Skylar Crenshaw. Wolfinger went 2-for-3, scoring one run, while Crenshaw went 2-for-2, also crossing the plate once for the Saints. Lindsay Brandon was on the mound for Siena Heights, pitching seven plus innings and striking out four.

The Saints will be back in action on Tuesday, March 28, when they host Findlay.  The Saints scheduled game on Sunday at Calumet St. Joseph has been cancelled due to the impending rain Saturday and Sunday.  For the most up to date schedule info, please visit our website at
