The Siena Heights softball team was chosen fifth in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Preseason Coaches' Poll as announced by the league office.
Aquinas topped the poll with eight first-place votes and a total of 139 points. Madonna was second with 124 points and was followed by Northwestern Ohio who accumulated three first-place votes and 119 points. Lawrence Tech edged the Saints by four points with 103 while SHU held the fifth spot with 99. Michigan-Dearborn, who tallied one first-place vote, finished with 76 points for sixth place. Indiana Tech fell to seventh with 75 points and Cleary was eighth with 61. Concordia (Mich.) claimed the ninth spot with 55 points. Cornerstone and Lourdes tied for 10th with 35 points and Rochester rounded out the poll with 15 points for 12th.
Siena finished 21-15 overall last season and third in the WHAC standings with a 13-7 conference mark. The Saints will kick off the 2019 campaign with 12 games in Tucson, Ariz. starting on Saturday, March 2 against Presentation (S.D.) at 9:00 a.m. and Jamestown at 11:00 a.m., both of those times are mountain time.
