SYLVANIA, Ohio -- Sierra Calhoun scored 20 points and eclipsed the 1,000-point mark in her Siena Heights career as the 15th-ranked Siena Heights women's basketball team overcame an early deficit to defeat Lourdes (Ohio), 75-63, in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference action on Wednesday. With the win, SHU guaranteed that it will enjoy the friendly confines of the SHU Fieldhouse for its WHAC Tournament quarterfinal.
Siena Heights (23-6, 16-5) trailed by as many as eight in the opening half before storming back with a 21-7 run to close the half. The Saints had a pair of eight-point streaks during that stretch, helping themselves to a 34-28 halftime advantage.
SHU opened the second half with a 10-2 run, increasing its lead to 44-30 with 15:34 to go.
The host Gray Wolves (6-22, 4-17) pushed back later in the period, using a 14-4 stretch to close their deficit to 56-50. Lauren Tilden hit a pair of 3-pointers before Courtney Slepko's 3-ball closed the gap to six with 7:38 remaining.
Siena Heights eventually pushed its lead back to double-digits, going up 65-53 on a trey by Warfield, and then made eight consecutive free throw attempts to keep a sizeable advantage.
Tarynn Hampton led Lourdes with 16 points and eight rebounds while Tilden contributed 15 points and four assists. Tiffani Blackman added 13 points.
The Saints will close out their regular season on Saturday when they visit second-ranked Davenport for a 1 p.m. tip-off.
