GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Grace Howrigon scored 14 points while Sierra Calhoun had a double-double worth 12 points and 11 rebounds, but the 15th-ranked Siena Heights women's basketball team was unable to overcome No. 2 Davenport as it dropped a 78-60 decision in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference action on Saturday. The contest was the NAIA Division II Game of the Week.
Alexxis Knannlein added 11 points for the Saints (23-7, 16-6), who fell victim to an early DU shooting barrage. The Panthers (28-1, 21-1) went 15 of 30 from the field during the first half (50 percent), including an 8-for-18 performance from 3-point territory (44.4 percent).
Early on, Davenport used an 11-point first-half run to build a 15-4 lead and later bridged a 15-0 stretch across the two halves to take a 51-26 advantage with 16:21 remaining in the second half.
The Panthers' largest lead was 66-37 with 6:13 to go in the contest.
Tiesha Stokes was DU's leading scorer with 15 points. Kia Frazer added 11 points while Brittan Johnson contributed eight rebounds and four assists.
For the game, Davenport was 27 of 51 from the field (52.9 percent) and 10 of 23 from 3-ball land (43.5 percent). The Saints shot 18 of 56 (32.1 percent) and 3 of 18 (16.7 percent), respectively.
The Saints will play their next contest on Thursday when they host a WHAC Tournament quarterfinal.
