ADRIAN, Mich. -- Alexxis Knannlein scored a go-ahead layup with 33 seconds left as the 13th-ranked Siena Heights women's basketball team eked out a 58-55 victory over Aquinas in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference action on Saturday at the SHU Fieldhouse.

After putting the Saints ahead, 56-55, Knannlein came up with a key block with 13 seconds remaining. Sierra Calhoun then hit a pair of free throws before a final Aquinas 3-point attempt missed its mark at the buzzer.

Calhoun was SHU's leading scorer, finishing with 22 points, nine rebounds and five blocks. Knannlein had 16 points, eight rebounds and four blocks.

After starting with the game's first seven points, Siena Heights (12-3, 7-1) led by as many as 11 in the opening half before visiting Aquinas closed the period with a 15-5 stretch. SHU took a 27-26 advantage into halftime.

Aquinas (5-12, 3-5) opened the second with four straight points to gain a short-lived lead. After that, SHU led most of the way -- with the exception of two ties -- before a 5-0 Aquinas run gave the visitors a 55-54 lead with 59 seconds left.

Aquinas' Katie Theut buried the go-ahead three pointer for the visitors' final basket. After that, Knannlein gained an offensive rebound off a Calhoun missed shot and put SHU ahead for good.
