SOUTHFIELD, Mich. -- Morgan Warfield recorded her 300th career three-pointer while leading scorer Sierra Calhoun scored 14 points as the 17th-ranked Siena Heights women's basketball team defeated Lawrence Tech, 71-50, in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference action on Wednesday.
A pair of nine-point runs helped SHU take command in the first half. The first streak built a 19-10 advantage and then the later streak gave the Saints their largest lead in the first at 30-15.
Siena Heights took a 38-26 into halftime before the host Blue Devils (7-8, 5-6) twice trimmed their deficit to seven points.
Then, SHU enjoyed a 16-5 stretch -- capped by Warfield's 299th and 300th three-pointers as a Saint -- and held its lead in double-digits the rest of the way.
As a team, the Saints outrebounded Lawrence Tech, 34-25, and shot 53.8 percent from the field (28 of 52).
