DEARBORN, Mich. -- Mackenzie Tomasik finished with 13 points and six rebounds as the 20th-ranked Siena Heights women's basketball team cruised to an 82-55 victory over Michigan-Dearborn in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play on Saturday.
Tomasik was perfect from the field (5 of 5) and the free-throw line (3 of 3). Alexxis Knannlein added 12 points and seven rebounds while Sierra Calhoun contributed 10 points, five assists, two blocks and two steals for the Saints (19-5, 13-3).
SHU grabbed an early 24-6 lead -- part of that resulting from a 12-point run -- and never looked back. Tomasik had nine points during that early stretch and Calhoun put in six.
The Saints led at halftime, 43-18, and eventually built their largest lead of the game off a 12-point streak in the second half.
Five different SHU scorers contributed to that 12-0 charge, including Ebony Harvey, whose four points granted the Saints their largest advantage at 59-20.
As a team, Siena Heights shot 31 of 62 from the field (50.0 percent) while holding a 48-40 rebounding edge. The Wolverines (3-21, 1-15) went 16 of 65 from the field (24.6 percent).
The Saints will be in action next on Wednesday when they visit another nationally-ranked WHAC school, Madonna, for a pivotal contest. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
