Women's Hoops Falls to Cardinal Stritch (Wis.)

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's basketball team could not hold off Cardinal Stritch (Wis.) in a 40-56 non-conference loss in the SHU Thanksgiving Tournament Finals, on Sunday.

The score was tight at the end of the first quarter, 11-16, but the Wolves took control in the second quarter -- outscoring Siena Heights 21-7 -- and held a steady lead the remainder of the game.

April Watson was the standout for the Saints (4-3) with a double-double. She scored 21 points, grabbed 10 boards and had three blocks -- leading the team in all three categories. Watson was named to the All-Tournament Team.

For the Wolves (8-1), Kelli Schrauth was the driving force with 13 points, six rebounds and three blocks. Emily Neitzel led Cardinal Stritch in assists, five, while adding on six points and six rebounds. Maranda Huibregtse scored eight points for the Wolves and added two assists.

Neitzel and Huibregtse were named to the All-Tournament Team while Schrauth was named Tournament MVP.

SHU will travel to Davenport for a conference match-up on Wednesday. Tip-off will be at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men's basketball team at 7:30 p.m.
