Watson, Wirth Efforts Lift Women's Hoops to Victory

ADRIAN, Mich. -- April Watson and Lauren Wirth both finished the night with a double-double to lift the Siena Heights women's basketball team to a 75-44 victory over conference opponent Marygrove, on Saturday.

The score went back-and-forth in the first quarter between the Saints and the Mustangs. In the final two minutes of the quarter, Wirth finished two layups, pushing the Saints to a 14-11 lead.

Siena Heights gained momentum going into the second quarter on an 11-0 streak, Watson scoring nine of those points. Afterward, the Saints (5-4, 2-3) cruised to victory.

Overall, Watson finished with 14 points, 11 boards and four assists. Wirth was the Saints' leading scorer with 16 points and 11 rebounds.

The leading scorer for the Mustangs (4-7, 1-5) was Breanna Thomas, who finished with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

SHU will be back in action at home, on Wednesday, to play Indiana Tech for a 6 p.m. tip-off.
