SYLVANIA, Ohio -- The Siena Heights women's basketball team traveled to take on Lourdes in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference contest on Wednesday. The Saints came away with a 68-43 victory.
SHU (13-6, 6-5 WHAC) jumped out to a fast start scoring 25 points in the first quarter and held Lourdes to just eight. In the first half, Siena Heights was able to limit the Gray Wolves to 17 points and went into halftime with a 37-17 advantage.
Lourdes (5-14, 3-8 WHAC) increased their scoring slightly in the third period, and again in the fourth, but it was not enough to challenge the Saints. Siena Heights walked away with a convincing 25 point win.
Molea Thompson was the lone Gray Wolf in double figures with 10. Mariah DuPree added nine points.
Siena Heights shot 23-47 (48.9%) from the field, while Lourdes shot 16-64 (25%). From the charity stripe, SHU was 20-29 (69%). Lourdes shot only nine free throws in the contest, scoring on five (55.6%).
The Saints will be back in action on Saturday, Jan. 14, when they head to Indiana Tech for a WHAC match-up. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m.
