Women's Basketball Falls to Lawrence Tech in OT Battle

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's basketball team travled to take on Lawrence Tech in a Wolverine-Hooiser Athletic Conference contest on Saturday. The Saints dropped the contest in overtime with a score of 75-65.

Siena Heights (17-7, 10-6 WHAC) went into halftime with an 11 point advantage, but the Blue Devils were able to close the gap and send the game into overtime. In OT, LTU outscored SHU 12-2 and grabbed the victory.

April Watson led the Saints with 18 points, 14 rebounds, six blocks and three assists, while Jaaliyah Arrington added 14 points and eight rebounds. 

Lawrence Tech (13-10, 9-7 WHAC) was led by Hayley Walkowski with 22 points, six rebounds and five steals off the bench. Nicole Buckingham contributed 17 points.

SHU shot 44.3% (27-61) from the field while LTU shot 35.2% (25-71). From behind the arc, Siena Heights knocked down 7-28 (25%) and 5-17 (29.4%) for Lawrence Tech. The difference was from the free throw line where the Saints shot only eight free throws, scoring on four of them (50%), while the Blue Devils shot 20-26 (76.9%).

The Saints will be back in action on Wednesday, Feb. 1, when they head to Northwestern Ohio for a WHAC battle. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m.
