GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The No. 25 ranked Siena Heights women's basketball team traveled to take on Aquinas in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference contest on Wednesday. The Saints were victorious, with a score of 69-59.
At the end of the first period, SHU found themselves trailing by one and were not satisfied. By halftime, the Saints had grabbed the lead and walked to the lockeroom with a four point advantage and a score of 28-24.
Throughout the third period, Siena Heights (20-7, 13-6 WHAC) was able to expand their lead to eleven and eventually defeated Aquinas by a ten point margin.
Aquinas (16-11, 10-9 WHAC) was led by Bri Spica with 20 points. Deiona Rogers recorded 25 points and ten rebounds.
On the night, Siena Heights shot 44.1% from the floor (26-59), 33.3% (3-9) from three and 73.7% (14-19) from the free throw line. Aquinas shot 39.3% (22-56) from the field, 31.6% (6-19) and 45% (9-20) from the charity stripe.
The Saints will be back in action on Saturday, Feb. 11, when they head to Marygrove for a 1 p.m. tipoff.
