Women's basketball senior, April Watson was named Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference player of the week for the second time this season, and the third time in her career. Last week the Saints went 2-0, defeating Aquinas and Marygrove.
Watson helped the No. 25 ranked Saints to victories over Aquinas and Marygrove where she recorded 31 points and 15 rebounds against the Saints, and 25 points and 16 rebounds against the Mustangs. In these two contests, she averaged 28.0 points, 15.5 rebounds, 2.0 blocks and shot 57.9% from the floor.
On the season, Watson is averaging a double-double of 19.1 points per game and 10.5 assists per game where she is the team leader in both categories. She is also the Saints' leader in blocks, averaging 1.8 per contest.
Watson is ranked ninth overall in the NAIA in scoring and rebounds per game. She is also 12th overall in blocks per game and 13th in field goal percentage.
Watson and the Saints will be back in action on Wednesday, Feb. 15 when they host No. 6 Davenport in a WHAC contest. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.
