Former Siena Heights women's basketball player April Watson, will be recognized for her excellent 2016-17 season, by having her Saints', No. 31 jersey on display in the rafters at the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in Knoxville, Tenn.
The "Ring of Honor" jerseys are displayed in the Hall's North Rotunda where the uniforms of High School Gatorade State Players of the Year and Collegiate All-Americans are represented.
Watson was the program's first ever, National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) First-Team All-American honoree. In her senior season she averaged 19.4 points per game and 11.3 rebounds, over 34 contests. She also scored over 1,000 points in just two seasons with Siena Heights.
Watson is not the first Saint to have the honor of her jersey being displayed at the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame. After the 2014-15 season, Sierra Calhoun was recognized for her efforts and being an NAIA Second-Team All-American by having her No. 30, Siena Heights uniform hung in the rafters.
Siena Heights University Head Women's Basketball Coach Sue Syljebeck said, "This is such a great honor for April after her outstanding senior season. We are excited that she is being recognized in such a special way."
