The No. 22 Siena Heights women's basketball team is set to take on Rochester on Wednesday and Michigan-Dearborn on Saturday in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference action.
Last week, the Saints went 2-1, defeating crosstown rival, Adrian on Tuesday and then taking down Goshen (Ind.) in the first round of the Siena Heights Thanksgiving Tournament. The win over Goshen advanced SHU to the SHU Thanksgiving Tournament championship, where they fell to Pikeville (Ky.).
Rochester is 5-2 overall on the season and 1-1 in WHAC play. The Warriors last contest was on Nov. 18 where they fell to Aquinas. On Nov. 15, RC defeated Michigan-Dearborn.
Michigan-Dearborn holds a 4-7 overall record and 0-4 record in the WHAC. UMD enters the week on a five game losing streak after falling to Concordia and Wayne State in an exhibition game last week.
The Saints' offense is led by Alyssa Larson who averages 9.9 points per game. Next for SHU in scoring is Demi Russell and Ashley Perry averaging 8.8 and 8.6 points per game respectively. Leading Siena Heights on the glass is Sharmaine Wills, grabbing 8.3 rebounds per contest. Larson and Russell have been able to help SHU on the boards as well, each averaging 5.8 rebounds per game.
Azalea Miller has dished out a team high, 2.75 assists per game while Larson has contributed on the defensive end as well, averaging 1.1 blocks per game.
On the season, the Saints have shot 34.3% from the floor and 24.7% from behind the arc. From the free throw line, Siena Heights has cashed in on 64.9%.
Siena Heights will host Rochester in it's annual Hunger Game, on Wednesday with a 6 p.m. tip off. Saturday's contest will tip off at 5:30 p.m. against Michigan-Dearborn.
