The Siena Heights women's basketball team is set for three contests this week as they start the week hosting Great Lakes Christian in a non-conference contest on Monday. On Wednesday, the Saints will travel to take on Cornerstone and then head to Lourdes on Saturday, both in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference contests. Monday's game is set to tip off at 8 p.m. while Wednesday's contest will begin at 5:30 p.m. and Saturday's at 1 p.m.
SHU is currently 13-11 overall and 7-8 in WHAC play. The Saints are averaging 63.5 points per game while shooting 38.3% from the floor, 30.2% from three point land and 61.7% from the free throw line. Last week, Siena Heights defeated Northwestern Ohio before falling to No. 19 Lawrence Tech.
Great Lakes Christian is 2-18 overall on the season. No further statistics are available.
Cornerstone is holding a 15-9 overall record and 10-4 conference record entering the week. Last week the Golden Eagles won both of their contests over Lourdes and Madonna. CU averages 71.8 points per game and is shooting 45.5% from the field. From three the Golden Eagles are knocking down 35.5% of their attempts and 74.8% from the free throw line.
Lourdes is 8-14 overall on the season and 2-14 in WHAC action. The Gray Wolves dropped both contests last week, first to Cornerstone, then to No. 8 Indiana Tech. LU averages 65.1 points per game and shoots 34.5% from the floor. From the three point line Lourdes is shooting 31.4% and 59.3% from the charity stripe.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Demi Russell is leading the Saints in scoring with 10.6 points per game. Alyssa Larson leads on the glass with 7.5 rebounds per game and in blocks with 1.1 per game. Azalea Miller has dished out 3.6 assists per game.
Cornerstone is led by Jesse Sheridan with 18.7 points per game and in steals with 1.5 per contest. Cass Vredevoogd also averages double-figure scoring for the Golden Eagles with 11.7 points per game and also leads the team in rebounds per game with 5.8. Lizzy Otten currently averages a team high, 4.1 assists per game.
Sydney Miller leads the way for Lourdes averaging 14 points per game. She is helped by Tatyana Reynolds who is averaging 13.1 points per contest. LaTyrah Beasley has been able to pull down 6.8 rebounds per game while Christiana Jefferson has dished out 4.3 assists per game.
SHU will head to Rochester for a WHAC contest on Wednesday, Feb. 7. Tip off is set for 5:30 p.m.
