STEUBENVILLE, Ohio -- The sixth ranked Siena Heights women's lacrosse team completed it's regular season with a non-conference contest at Franciscan (Ohio) on Saturday and finished with a 21-7 win.
The Saints (13-3 overall) were in control from the beginning as they bolted out to a 3-0 lead less than six minutes into the game. SHU went on another 5-0 run later in the first half to give them even further separation. In the second half, Siena Heights held the Barons to no goals for almost minutes and secured the victory.
Jenna Sommerville led the Saints with seven goals while Taylor Swartz added three. Marissa Cirino finished with a team high three assists with Natalie Williams adding two. Mariah Smythe allowed five goals and made five saves on ten shots faced in goal. Lizzy Elliott allowed two goals and made nine saves on 11 shots faces in net for Siena Heights.
For the Barons (6-6 overall), Mary Krolicki finished with three goals while Maria Hilkert dished out a team best two assists. Goal keeper Brittany Bain allowed 21 goals and made 10 saves on 31 shots faced and suffered the loss.
Next up, SHU will enter Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Tournament play on Friday, April 27. Game time and opponent are to be determined.
