The Siena Heights women's soccer team was picked to finish fourth in the 2020 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Preseason Coaches Poll that was released by the league office on Friday. The Saints finished fourth in the WHAC standings last season with an 8-3 mark in conference play.
The preseason poll is voted on by the coaches in the league who rank the teams in the league from 1-12. 12 points are given to the team at the top of the list, 11 points to the second-ranked team, and so on to determine the order of the poll.
The defending regular-season and WHAC Tournament champion, UNOH, finished atop this ear's preseason poll after finishing with 141 points and receiving nine of the 12 first-place votes. Aquinas, who won the 2018 WHAC Tournament, finished second with 135 points and received the other three first-place votes. Madonna clinched the third spot in the rankings with 110 points followed by Siena Heights with 100 points in the fourth slot. Cornerstone (99 pts.) and Lawrence Tech (94 pts.) made up the fifth and sixth rankings. Concordia (Mich.) finished seventh with 76 points. Lourdes (56 pts.), Cleary (45 pts.), Indiana Tech (41 pts.), UM-Dearborn (23 pts.), and Rochester (16 pts.) rounded out the poll.
The Saints kick off the 2020 season on October 3rd with a home conference game against Indiana Tech at 4:00 p.m.
