Saints' Women's Volleyball Takes Two in Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Siena Heights women's volleyball team enjoyed a 2-0 day with victories over Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) and Martin Methodist (Tenn.) at TNU's Scott Jones Classic on Friday.

The Saints opened the day with a five-set win against the host Trojans, 25-17, 17-25, 28-26, 22-25, 15-8.

Halie Baker led the SHU effort in match one with 18 kills, 11 digs and four total blocks. Mycala Cerry added 13 kills while Julia Haupricht contributed nine kills and six total blocks.

Also, Carly Tillotson and Lauren Baker made 30 and 16 assists, respectively, while Nicole Morgan finished with 23 digs and Brianna Baker chipped in with 17 digs.

SHU answered from an early 1-0 match deficit to defeat Martin Methodist, 29-31, 25-22, 25-18, 25-17.

Cherry had 12 kills and 11 digs while Halie Baker put down 10 kills, leading a quintet of Saints with eight-or-more kills. Brianna Baker and Chelsea Doyle contributed nine kills and Haupricht came through with eight.

Also, Tillotson had 33 assists and Lauren Baker finished with 17 helpers. Morgan and Brianna Baker added 13 and 11 digs, respectively. Doyle ended up with three total blocks.

The Saints will return to action on Saturday at the Scott Jones Classic with a match against Covenant (Ga.).
