Women's Volleyball Gets Past Concordia

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's volleyball team gets past Concordia in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play Friday at SHU Fieldhouse. 

Taylor Felver led the Saints (7-4, 4-3) with a double-double, finishing with 10 kills and 13 digs. She also finished the night with four aces and a .323 hitting percentage while SHU won with set scores of 25-15, 23-25, 25-23, 25-16. 

Leze Vukaj finished the match with 13 kills and seven total blocks. Carly Tillotson accumulated 39 assists for the Saints. Abby Whitehead added 10 kills and Nicole Morgan finished with 17 digs.

SHU jumped on the Cardinals early in set one before CUAA tied it up at 8-all. SHU broke the tie with a kill by Whitehead and led the rest of the set.

In set two, Siena Heights trailed twice by seven points before an 11-2 run in which Felver had three aces, giving SHU a 17-15 lead. The Cardinals (14-7, 3-4) and Saints forged four tie scores the remainder of the set before CUAA broke a 23-23 tie with two consecutive points.

SHU fell behind, 4-0, in set three and trailed by as many as five before pushing back with a 10-5 stretch. The Saints tied the contest at 12-12, but a late push by CUAA helped the Cardinals a 23-21 advantage. From there, Siena Heights came back with the set's final four points to take a 2-1 match lead.

The Saints took command in set four, snapping a 5-all tie with four straight points and leading the rest of the way.

Siena Heights heads to Lawrence Tech for a WHAC match-up Saturday, Sept. 26 at 1 p.m.
