Women's Volleyball Claims First-Ever Win over Indiana Tech

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's volleyball team swept Indiana Tech, 3-0, in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play at the SHU Fieldhouse on Saturday. The victory snapped a string of 17 consecutive Indiana Tech wins in the schools' all-time series.

The Saints were led by Leze Vukaj and Ashleigh Shay, who finished the match with 10 kills each, who won with set scores of 25-20, 25-15, 25-17.

Abby Whitehead finished the match with nine kills. Carly Tillotson compiled 28 assists and two aces. Nicole Morgan and Taylor Felver had 20 and 10 digs, respectively.

SHU totaled 13 team blocks. Vukaj had eight total blocks.

The Saints broke a 2-2 tie in the first set, going on an 8-3 stretch and leading the rest of the way.

Siena Heights fell behind early in the second, but three kills from Shay helped SHU to a 4-2 advantage. Later in the set, an 8-0 Siena Heights run -- two Morgan aces, one Whitehead kill and five Indiana Tech errors -- helped the Saints cruise to a 2-0 match lead.

In the third, SHU used runs of five and four points to build a comfortable lead as it completed the sweep.

Indiana Tech (10-9, 6-5) was led by Jazmin Alexander, who had nine kills. Karli Jones had 12 assists and seven digs. Taylor Kelso finished the match with 20 digs.

The Saints (9-6, 6-5) will head to Davenport on Wednesday Oct. 7 for a 7 p.m. WHAC matchup.
