ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's volleyball team opened Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference action on Wednesday, defeating Lourdes in three sets. Set scores were of 25-11, 25-18 and 25-19.
SET ONE: Siena Heights 25, Lourdes 11
The Saints scored the first point of the set and maintained control throughout, running away with the convincing set one victory.
SET TWO: Siena Heights 25, Lourdes 18
SHU grabbed their first lead of the set at 13-12 and eventually went on a 4-0 run to widen the gap to 20-14. From there, the Saints never looked back.
SET THREE: Siena Heights 25, Lourdes 19
Siena Heights scored the first two points of the set before the Gray Wolves rally to take the lead, 6-5. The Saints quickly regained the lead at 7-6 and was able to hang on from there.
Leading the Saints attack was Libby Breton with eight kills, followed closely by Christine Tylutki with seven. Gabrielle Kalugar finished the contest with a team high, 16 digs, while Amanda Metz dished out 26 assists to go along with six kills and three assisted blocks. Breton also was the SHU leader with six assisted blocks.
Next up, the Siena Heights women's volleyball team will head to South Bend, Indiana where they will take on Indiana-South Bend and Goshen on Saturday, Sept. 9. Game times are 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. respectively.
