The Siena Heights women's volleyball team is set for two Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference contests this week against Concordia and No. 18 Cornerstone on Wednesday and Friday, respectively.
Last week, the Saints (23-4, 9-3 WHAC) defeated Rochester, 3-0 on Wednesday, before dropping it's contest with No. 16 Madonna, 3-1 on Friday. On Saturday, SHU grabbed the victory over Michigan-Dearborn, 3-1.
Concordia (3-22, 1-10 WHAC) enters the week after dropping its previous six consecutive contests. In the Saints and Cardinals last match-up, Siena Heights took the match in three sets by scores of 25-8, 25-14 and 25-14 (Sept. 20).
No. 18 Cornerstone (22-6, 11-1 WHAC) currently holds a nine game win streak after defeating Aquinas and Lawrence Tech last week. This week, the Golden Eagles will take on Lourdes and Siena Heights. Last time SHU took on CU, the Golden Eagles swept the match with set scores of 27-25, 25-11 and 25-19.
So far this season, Christine Tylutki leads the Saints with 248 kills and 2.56 kills per set. Paige Hudgin follows close behind with 235 kills and 2.35 kills per set. Libby Breton adds 219 kills and holds a team high, .287 attack percentage.
Gabrielle Kalugar is the team leader with 548 digs, averaging 5.48 digs per set. Breton leads Siena Heights at the net with 97 blocks – 84 assisted and 13 solo. Bianca Negron is atop the Saints leader board with 33 aces thus far in the season.
Next up, Siena Heights will host Aquinas on Wednesday, Nov. 1 for the final regular season home game before heading into WHAC playoffs. First serve is set for 7:30 p.m. WHAC tournament first round play will begin on Saturday, Nov. 4.
