Blackwell, Coulson Lead SHU Women's Bowling in South Bend
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Amanda Blackwell (Ferndale, Mich./Ferndale) and Katarina Coulson (Greenwood, Ind./Whiteland) recorded 1,455 pin counts and tied for 107th for the Siena Heights women's bowling team at the Blue and Gold Classic over the weekend. As a team, the Saints finished 37th among 44 teams with a final pin tally of 7,076.
Blackwell and Coulson finished with nine-game averages of 161.7. Coulson's high game was a 227 while Blackwell spun a 204.
Hillary Weiss (Clayton, Mich./Onsted) had SHU's best game -- a 239 -- putting together a 161.0 average and 1,449 pin count. She placed 109th.
Amanda McConeghy (Spring Arbor, Mich./Hanover-Horton) finished with a 1,428 pin count and 158.7 average. Her top game was a 189.
Amy Parker (Toledo, Ohio/Bowsher) added a 177 high game for the Saints. She pieced together a 1,289 pin count and 143.2 average.
McConeghy and Parker placed 115th and 157th, respectively. A total of 287 bowlers competed.
Wichita State (Kan.) won the team championship, finishing with a pin total of 9,098. Katie Sexton of Robert Morris (Ill.) was the top individual with a 2,030 total and 225.6 count.
The Saints will compete next at the American Heartland Intercollegiate Bowling Conference's fourth event of the season. The contest will take place at Western Bowl in Cincinnati, Ohio.
