Siena Heights Women's Lax Falls in Home Finale to Davenport

ADRIAN, Mich. -- Mackenzy Hickner (Clinton Township, Mich./Chippewa Valley) and Nicole Palm (Tecumseh, Mich./Tecumseh) had two goals and one assist each, but the Siena Heights women's lacrosse team dropped its home finale to Davenport, 20-7, on Saturday in National Women's Lacrosse League action at O'Laughlin Stadium.

Sam Skodi (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) added a goal and an assist while Stephannie Gonzalez (Middleville, Mich./Thornapple-Kellogg) and Cindy Bradford (Plymouth, Mich./Plymouth) contributed solo goals for the Saints (0-10, 0-9).

SHU goalkeeper Alessia Vagnini (Garden City, Mich./Ladywood) made 14 saves and picked up three groundballs.

In the first half, the Panthers (6-5, 3-5) went on a 10-goal run and took an 11-1 lead into halftime. The Saints opened the second with three straight goals -- two by Palm and one from Skodi -- before a 7-0 Davenport run expanded the visitors' lead to 17-4.

Taylor Balch led the Davenport effort with six goals, Valerie Carr had two goals and three assists and Alyssa Dowden finished with two goals and one assist.

Also for the Panthers, Michon Moline and Kaitlyn Lowden scored two goals apiece, Letesha Cannonier and Alison Bouman chipped in with one goal and one assist each and Lexi Kruse, Nicole Haywood, Natalie McHale and Mackenzie VanDerWarf notched solo goals.

Winning goalie Amanda Prins stopped seven shots while Schae Hoebeke had three assists and four groundballs for Davenport.

In other action at O'Laughlin Stadium, Indiana Tech defeated Aquinas, 20-15.

The Saints will play their next game on Tuesday when they visit Olivet for a 7 p.m. contest.
