The following was printed on the 2012 Baseball Team's Hall of Fame Plaque:
The 2012 Saints Baseball Team authored one of the most memorable seasons in program history. Entering the WHAC Tournament as the No. 5 seed, the Saints went undefeated to capture the WHAC Tournament Championship, defeating the No. 4 and No. 3 seeds and knocking off the No. 1 seed twice during their championship run.
The team finished the season with a 33-25 overall record. Their 33 wins rank as the second-most in program history, and their .568 winning percentage stands as the second-best mark in Siena Heights history — ahead of other SHU Hall of Fame teams.
Statistically, the 2012 squad set several single-season program records that still stand today, including 102 doubles, a 3.18 team ERA, and a .968 fielding percentage. The Saints also recorded 522 hits, the third-most in school history.
At the NAIA National Tournament in Florida, the Saints won their opening game before falling 2-0 to No. 1 seed and host Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. After winning an elimination game, their season ended with a one-run loss to the bracket’s No. 2 seed.
Individually, Cory Lehman was named an NAIA Honorable Mention All-American and earned WHAC Player of the Year honors. Lehman and Corey Alexander both received NAIA Gold Gloves and WHAC Gold Gloves.
Alexander, Lehman, and Brett Howard earned First Team All-WHAC honors. Dan Abbott, Kyle Benschoter, Brett Kuebler, Jake Sperry, and Josh White were all named Honorable Mention All-WHAC.
The roster featured two SHU Hall of Fame inductees in Alexander and Lehman and was led by Hall of Fame head coach John Kolasinski, further cementing the 2012 team’s place among the most accomplished squads in program history.
